"I
like its light weight and the HEPA cleaning filter.
My daughter has asthma, so it's important to me."

The
Certified HEPA Air Filter** on every FANTOM® vacuum
traps most dust, dirt and other allergens.
Every residential FANTOM model has a Certified HEPA Absolute
Air Filter on its exhaust -- the same type of air filter used
in hospital operating rooms.
HEPA means High Efficiency Particulate Air. The HEPA filter
was developed during World War II by the Atomic Energy Commission
to remove radioactive dust from plant exhausts. For a filter
to be certified HEPA, it must retain 99.97% of all particles
from the air which flows through it, down to 0.3 microns in
size. (One micron equals one millionth of a meter. Particles
less than 10 microns in size are not visible to the human
eye.)
This
means that the HEPA filter traps bacteria, pollen, plant-spores,
molds, yeast cells, dust, and other lung-damaging particles
down to 0.3 microns in size.
| Here's a chart
comparing the sizes of some common air contaminants:
|
| Human hair |
70 - 100 microns |
| Pollen |
20 - 50 microns |
| Plant spores |
20 - 40 microns |
| Mold |
2 - 20 microns |
| Bacteria |
0.35 - 10 microns |
| Lung damaging
particles |
0.50 - 9 microns |
